Mel Shishkin is a registered psychologist and Accredited Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher and EMDR Therapist, with about 10 years experience working in the mental health sector.

Mel is passionate about walking along side and guiding people through their journey towards healing and wellbeing. She has had a long held interest in the effects trauma has on the mind and body and has witnessed how embodied, mindful and compassion focused approaches lead to more deeply felt and lasting change.

Mel’s interest in the somatic consequences of trauma led her to Breathworks. Breathworks is a mindfulness based approach to pain and stress management that is imbued with compassion and kindness. Mel is also trained in Schema Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy and uses these approaches in a collaborative way to help people navigate through difficult times. Mel is also currently studying Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy.

Mel believes in the deep healing that mindful and embodied processes offer and is committed to providing safe spaces for marginalised communities. Mel works within inclusive frameworks for the queer community, Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC) and neurodiverse people.
