Sophie Panozzo
Sophie is a Provisional Psychologist who is committed to helping clients develop positive mental wellbeing. She believes this is possible through a supportive therapeutic relationship based on compassion, understanding, collaboration and warmth. Sophie provides a non-judgmental space where clients can explore emotional challenges and take steps towards personal growth and/or recovery.
Sophie has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in private practice and non-profit organisations. She has a particular interest in working with individuals presenting with anxiety or eating disorders, depression, OCD and behavioural issues. She also has an affinity with older adults (75+) needing support adjusting to changes faced at later stages of life. Her own ethnic background and life experience allow her to better understand issues faced by individuals from diverse socio-cultural and linguistic backgrounds. She offers her services in Italian or English language.
Sophie’s approach is person-centred and drawn from various evidence-based interventions depending on her clients’ needs and preferences, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Play Therapy and Mindfulness.
Her services do not require a mental health care plan from a general practitioner. Sophie speaks English and Italian and is also available at the Wollongong office on Fridays.
