Work and Development Order

Dune Health and Wellbeing provides psychological treatment to clients seeking a Work Development Order (WDO).

The Work Development Order (WDO) Scheme is a New South Wales (NSW) government program designed to help vulnerable individuals resolve unpaid fines (both penalty notices and court fines) through participation in activities or treatment instead of making monetary payments.

WDOs are overseen by organisations or health practitioners known as WDO sponsors, who have received special approval from the NSW government to manage these orders.

As a sponsor, we are here to provide you with the support you need to recover and alleviate financial burdens. This is generally achieved through  counselling and mental health or drug and alcohol treatment.

We can provide:

Mental health treatment under a health practitioner’s treatment plan through face-to-face sessions with a psychologist or counsellor.

How you can get started:
1. Get a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP

2. Book an in-person or telehealth appointment with one of our counsellors or psychologists

FAQS

How does a WDO help with Fines Debt?

The WDO Scheme allows eligible individuals to reduce their fines by up to $1000 per month through participation in medical, mental health, or drug and alcohol treatment, counselling (including case management), financial counselling, vocational, educational, or life skills courses, or voluntary work.

Who is eligible?

A person is eligible to participate in the scheme if they meet at least one of the following points. Eligible participants are either homeless, have a mental illness, intellectual disability, cognitive impairment, serious addiction to drugs or alcohol, or are in acute financial hardship (i.e. on a Centrelink benefit).

Why should I see a Psychologist or Counsellor for a WDO?

Why should I see a Psychologist or Counsellor for a WDO?

Paying off a fine, whether with money or through a WDO, provides significant relief once completed. Overdue fees can accumulate rapidly, and a small fine can quickly grow into a substantial one if it remains unpaid. Seeing a Psychologist or counsellor can help alleviate both stress and financial burdens during this process.
