To support accessibility to mental health services, Dune Health and Wellbeing charges less than the recommended APA rates.

See below for our fees and potential rebates.

Initial psychology / counselling consultation fees

An initial consultation is 80 minutes long.  A longer session is required to do a comprehensive initial assessment and to determine the best course of therapy for your specific needs.

Initial Session Fees

An initial appointment with a Provisional Psychologist / Counsellor costs $165 and can be paid by the client by debit or credit card. There is no additional gap fee or Medicare rebate for services provided by provisional psychologists.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is not subsidised by Australia's Better Access Scheme and therefore does not attract a Medicare rebate.

To support accessibility and affordability DHW charges each partner the standard 80-minute out-of-pocket fee for joint sessions.

For instance, to see a Provisional Psychologist or Counsellor couples therapy would cost $145 x 2 = $290.
For a Mental Health Social Worker the cost would be $155.00 x 2 = $310.
For a registered Psychologist the cost would be $160 x 2 = $320.
For a Clinical Psychologist the cost would be $170 x 2 = $340.
Because we bill each individual, it may be possible for clients to claim their portion of the couples therapy session (e.g., $145 / $155/ $160 / $170 )with their private health insurer.

Individual sessions that you may have with the psychologist as part of your overall wellbeing journey are eligible for Medicare rebates with Registered or Clinical psychologists. For individual sessions, our standard individual 50-minute session rates apply (see table above) (minus any Medicare rebates applied)

*Please consult with your private health insurer to determine if you may be eligible for any rebates or coverage.

Psychological Assessment and Reporting

The cost of psychometric assessment varies depending on the time required for assessment and report preparation. For example, the assessment of ADHD usually requires 1 psychometric assessment and take-home questionnaires. The assessment of ASD or intellectual concerns often requires 2 or more psychometric assessments and take-home questionnaires.

A $500 deposit is required at the time of booking.
The full balance must be paid before the first session begins.
Any additional charges incurred during the first session must be paid before the second session begins.
Once full payment is received report(s) will be released.
